Hayley Dixon, a CollegeInvest 529 Scholarship recipient from Glenwood Springs, said, “This scholarship will help me to fulfill my dream of becoming an engineer and working to create better living conditions in third world countries in South America. I am currently paying my expenses with a work-study job, loans and savings. I would really like to borrow less money during my college years, so that I do not have an overload of debt when I graduate.”

Erin Gorsett, a CollegeInvest 529 Scholarship recipient from Silt, is putting her scholarship and her 529 savings plan to good use toward attaining a degree in Animal Science and a career at a wildlife rehabilitation center. “Higher education is important to me because we should never stop learning,” Gorsett commented. “By continuing past high school, we make an effort to better ourselves, which gives us the opportunity to better the community.”

The CollegeInvest 529 Scholarship is designed be one component within a larger higher education funding plan. Designed to help working families in Colorado, it provides additional funds to their existing CollgeInvest college savings and reduces the amount they may need to borrow in the future.
