Eighth and Midland detour still closed

The Eighth Street detour at Midland Avenue will remain closed through at least Friday. A new traffic signal is being installed along with intersection grade modifications and utility reconstruction by the City of Glenwood Springs. Construction work outside the roadway will continue after the reopening of the intersection, which will include sidewalks, lighting and landscaping. Call the Midland and Eighth project information hotline at 230-0683 for updated information or to leave a message with questions or comments.

Commuters to or through Glenwood Springs should plan to use Exit 116, the main Glenwood interchange, and Grand Avenue during this closure. Motorists should anticipate longer driving times into and through Glenwood Springs. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated as this project moves into the final stages of construction.

For updates on these construction projects and maps of the construction areas, visit the city Web site at http://www.ci.glenwood-springs.co.us and click on the “Construction Alerts” link.
