Eleanor Mae Ross

Eleanor Mae Ross of Parachute passed away on December 23, 2007, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 79. Eleanor was born Oct. 31, 1928 in Detroit to Everett Hayes and Mabel (James) Hayes. She married Alex Ross on Nov. 19, 1949 in Bowling Green Ohio, they were valley residents for 21 years. She was a graduate of Wayne State University. She taught physical education in Detroit for four years and stayed at home to raise her family, then went back to work teaching 3rd grade in Buena Park CA for 10 years. She and her husband lived at Lake Powell for 4 years where she ran the gift shop, they also lived in the Tetons for years and lived in Parachute for the last 21 years, where she had been an active member of the Parachute Senior Center. Eleanor is survived by her husband Alex (Sandy), daughter Susan Ross of Pittsgrove NJ. Son Richard (Terri), 2 grandchildren Brittany 18, and Cody 15, of Riverside CA. A memorial service will be held on Thursday December 27, 2007 at 2:00pm, at the Grand Valley Christian Church. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the St. Mary’s Cancer Center, or Roaring Fork Hospice. Farnum Holt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
