Elizabeth (Betty) D. Wyatt of Strawberry, Ariz., was born to Hermann and Alvina Doose on Feb. 19, 1919, in Glenwood Springs, Colo. She passed away on Jan. 27, 2013, in Phoenix, Ariz., at the Ryan House Hospice of the Valley at 93 years of age.

She was greeted at the pearly gates by her beloved Whippet, “Cinder,” who passed on the same day as Mrs. Wyatt.

She is survived by her son, Jim Wyatt of Strawberry, Ariz.; her daughter, Sandy Wight of Northridge, Calif.; her granddaughter, Misha (Michael) Miller of Clovis, Calif.; grandson, Shane (Julie) Wight of Simi Valley, Calif.; great-granddaughters, Lindsay, Payton, Delaney Miller and Sophie and Caylie Wight; along with 11 nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wyatt retired from Colorado State as a claims representative for the unemployment office in Denver. She came to Strawberry in 1980 and enjoyed Strawberry in the summers and Phoenix in the winter. She was a life member of Strawberry Elite and Riff Raff Club and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She also volunteered for the IRS tax preparation program.

She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, crocheting and dancing. She always had a smile or laugh and was good-natured.

Mrs. Wyatt was the last survivor of her siblings – two brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will take place in Strawberry, Ariz., in the summer of 2013.

Donations in Mrs. Wyatt’s name may be made to Hospice of the Valley Ryan House.
