Eloise Spahr Griffith

Eloise Spahr Griffith, former resident of Glenwood Springs, passed away Aug. 24, 2006, at Mesa Manor Care Center in Grand Junction.She was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Colorado City to Harold and Bernice Spahr. The family returned to Glenwood Springs in 1920, and Eloise attended school in Glenwood.She married Edward Amichaux in 1932. They later divorced.Eloise married Dr. Elden Griffith in 1955. They moved to Spokane, Wash., where she lived until moving back to Colorado in 2002.She was active in a number of organizations including Yampah Rebekah Lodge #73, Glenwood Rod and Gun Club, Four Seasons Garden Club of Spokane, and Spokane Camera Club. She was also a Japanese flower arranging instructor.She is survived by daughter Joanne Bowden of New Castle; granddaughters Robin Porter of Highlands Ranch, Carol (Ron) Hutchings of Centennial, and Kim (Larry) Whiteman of Grand Junction; great-grandchildren Zachary, Edward, and Chyanne Bowden; four great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, brother Robert Spahr, and sister Marion Carveth.A memorial service will be held at a later date.
