Embrace all who support economy

Dear Editor,

In keeping up with recent volleys in the letters to the editor section, I became truly confused.

While I agree that there can be too much of anything, in this situation I don’t buy the bigger isn’t better principle.

It’s hard to believe that people want to live such sheltered lives. No people really think that our retail and restaurant economy is busting at the seams. I don’t. I can conservatively estimate our businesses being down some 20 to 25 percent.

With this in mind I would consider any form of increased tourism a welcome pleasure. While I agree quiet is a good thing, I also find local businesses quietly going belly up quite disturbing.

So bring on the Harleys.

Also, a festival like Strawberry Days should welcome those who wish to participate with open arms. After all, it’s the oldest festival of its kind and started as a gathering of folks from all around this state coming to Glenwood.

Open your eyes! We should embrace those who support our economy. I gladly will.
