Emma Josephine Monte

Emma Josephine Monte, 100, passed away Aug. 10, 2007. Emma was born June 17, 1907, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Italian immigrants. She had eight brothers. She has been living at Castle Creek Assisted living for eight years. She amused her fellow residents with her cartoon drawings of “Canine Capers.” Emma was loved by all, and she will be dearly missed. We all need a little “Emma” in our lives!Emma is survived by son John Monte; daughter Janet Lapin; grandsons Anthony and John Michael; and great-grandson Anthony John. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aspen, with Father O’Brian officiating. Emma will be laid into eternal rest at St. Charles Cemetery in New York.The family asks that donations be sent to St. Mary Catholic Church in Aspen.Farnum-Holt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
