Emmabell (Emmie) Dwire Edmonds

Emmabell (Emmie) Dwire Edmonds, 78, passed away June 7, 2005.

Emmie was the seventh child born to Thomas and Ivy Dwire. She was born and raised in the New Castle area and graduated from New Castle High School in 1946. She then moved to Pueblo, where she married Hurchel Edmonds and raised their family.

Emmie and family made frequent trips to visit relatives and friends on the Western Slope. In Pueblo, she touched the hearts of many during her years as church secretary and member of Bethel United Methodist and her 41 years as a member of Alpha Delta, ESA.

Her husband; two brothers, Walt and Johnny Dwire; and one sister, Helen Bledsoe, preceded her in death.

She is survived by son Dennis Edmonds; daughters Terry Niznik and Marilyn House; 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters, Florence Stanley and Lydia Gipson, and two brothers, Albert and Elton Dwire, and many nieces and nephews, who loved their “Aunt Emmie” very dearly.

There will be a short memorial service at New Castle Highland Cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23. Immediately following burial, there will be a luncheon reception at the home of Lydia Dwire Gipson, 1101 Fir Ave. in Rifle. Emmie’s children, her sisters Florence and Lydia, her brother Elton, and other loving family members and friends will treasure many pleasant memories of Emmie.
