JACK + JILL heads to Texas for SXSW Colorado Music Party
February 25, 2015
After years of trying to play the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival in Austin, Texas, Grand Junction's own JACK + JILL booked a show. They will perform as part of the Colorado Music Party hosted by spokeBUZZ. Colorado Music Party is held at The 512 on Sixth Street. It began as a "side festival" two years ago as a collaborative, themed project with SXSW.
The free event will host more than 100 Colorado bands from March 17-21. JACK + JILL is currently the only band participating from the Western Slope. They are scheduled to play on March 17.
"This is a gigantic gig for us," said Aaron Seibert of JACK + JILL.
According to Jessica Seibert, Aaron's wife and band mate, SXSW's Colorado Music Party has centered around Denver and Fort Collins in the past.
"They didn't realize there was a music scene on the Western Slope," she said. "But, the biggest benefit of us going down there is getting connected with Front Range music scene."
While in Austin, JACK + JILL hopes to collaborate with other musical groups and network.

Aaron added that the band will stay in town during the entirety of SXSW in the off-chance that a slot opens up to play at the main festival.
"I'm excited for the Colorado Music party because I love Colorado so much," Aaron said. "We feel honored we are representing our state and town."
The full band will travel to Austin, including the Seiberts and Taylor Riley, drums/percussionist.
Once back from Colorado Music Party, JACK + JILL will finish up another album, which is set for release at the end of May. It will be called COLORADiO, which is an LP, including the last EP's five songs, and seven new tracks. The album release will coincide with the band's Southern Summer 2015 Tour, which includes Flagstaff, Ariz., Farmington, N.M., and Seabrook, Texas.
The Seiberts also hope to create a music video while traveling to and from Texas to promote a song called "ManUFOstatioN" from their upcoming album.
JACK + JILL will also play at Moab's JEEP Safari, set for April 2 and the Southwest Arbor Festival, set for April 18.
