Ernest A. ‘Ernie’ Rowe

Ernest A. Rowe (Ernie) passed away on Dec. 10, 2011 in Longmont, Colo. He was 81 years of age.

Ernie was raised in Glenwood from a pioneer Roaring Fork family. He graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 1948 and was mentored by Nick Stubler.

He attended Mesa Jr. College on a football scholarship where he met and married Shirely Gage on April 9, 1950. He taught and coached at Glenwood Jr. High until 1956 before entering the life insurance business and moving to Denver. He became the sales manager and then General Agent with Kansas City Life for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernie and Lillian Rowe and son Jerry.



He is survived by wife of 61 years, Shirley; children Shelley, Jamie, John and Pattie; his brother George and his wife Beverly; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 16 at 1 p.m. at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, Colo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Horizon Christian Church Building Fund, PL Box 7, Dacono, Colo. 80514.
