Eugene Stromberg

Eugene Stromberg, 85, of Springfield, Ore., passed away Jan. 19, 2008.

He was born May 5, 1922, in Red Wing, Minn., to Ed and Mildred Barrett Stromberg.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945.

Eugene worked as a power lineman for Glenwood Electric Company.

He married Norma Dumont Nov. 9., 1945, in Glenwood Springs.

Eugene was one of the men who erected the first cross on Red Mountain above Glenwood Springs.

Survivors include his wife; sons Larry Stromberg of Eugene, Ore., and David Stromberg of Denver; daughters Linda Garcia of Springfield, Ore., Marla Howard of Sutherlin, Ore., Heidi Titus of Palouse, Wash., and Valerie Hatfield of Salem, Ore.; sister Florence Thomas of Duluth, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughter Sandra Stromberg.

A memorial service was held Jan. 26 at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield, Ore.
