Everett "Sparky" Wren

Everett Wren passed away May 18, 2007, in Glenwood Springs. He was born July 17, 1920, in St. Louis, Mo., to Charles and Minnie Wren.Everett was a member of the U.S. Marine Air Corps during World War II, and a member of the Snowmass Rotary and American Legion. Sparky was a giving man. He envisioned a wonderful life for his family, and made it happen. His generosity of spirit extended to making every celebration with family and friends memorable. Anyone who attended a Sparky-planned event or golf tournament will attest to his remarkable ability to make every detail special. He was able to share his passion for travel with his wife, adventuring around the world. Starting in the 1950s with a cruise through the Panama Canal, they continued their explorations every few years to such places as Europe and Japan, golfing in Alaska and as much time in Hawaii as possible.He will be missed by all who loved him, and those in the valley who were used to having him drop by.He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Velda; sons Charles and Noel; daughter Vanessa; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Everett was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Roth.A burial will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at a later date.The family asks memorials be sent to The Roaring Fork Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Farnum Holt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
