Farmer’s Market positive event for Carbondale

Dear Editor,Yes, there is some positive news to report to you about Carbondale. Last Wednesday our Summer Farmer’s Market was kicked off, from 2-7 p.m., wow! It was a delightful and scintillating experience for all who attended. Now, all summer long on Wednesdays in our quaint and charming downtown at 4th Street, just off Main, you’ll see the white tents and you’ll find the Orchard Valley organic veggies from Paonia. Participants include: Okagawa with commercial vegetables; Stinky Blooms with flowers from Paonia; Grana Bread Bakery; Borden Farms from Hotchkiss with bedding plants and salad greens; High Wire selling elk and buffalo meat; Ute City Herbs & Flowers from Woody Creek with organic greens, herbs, vegetables, and flowers; Rancho Durazno with organic fruit; and Fort Fruit from Palisade with fresh fruit. We wish to acknowledge and thank Wendy Anderson, owner of the Novel Tea Bookstore who was instrumental in bringing this market to our community this summer. Also much thanks to Jo-Ann Barnett, Carbondale’s economic director and Jeff Jackel, director of parks and recreation, and his very industrious staff. And thanks to the Downtown Preservation Association for their financial support for the above mentioned events. Lots of folks are helping to make these summer events a reality and fun for all to enjoy.Stay tuned for more events this fall. Thanks for your time. See ya at the market!Sincerely,Chris ChacosCarbondale
