Fin’s Grille benefit raises $5,400 for Red Cross
A one-night benefit at Fin’s Grille & Raw Bar in Glenwood Springs last week raised $5,400 for the Western Colorado Chapter of the Red Cross.Three activities generated the donations: a gourmet Cajun buffet, silent auction and the game of chance, Fandango. Donations exceeded Fin’s Katrina benefit hosted last year by 8 percent. All proceeds were given to the Red Cross.”All work was provided by volunteers,” said Barb Andre, a certified public accountant who volunteered her services to collect and tally all the Red Cross donations. “The energetic and efficient staff at Fin’s Grille – all volunteering their time – rallied with the patrons as they all had a fun time, making this second annual benefit such a success.”Amidst a neighborhood, house-party atmosphere, David Dodson, of Dodson Engineered Products, facilitated Fandango, resulting in a large percentage of the donations. Marty Martinez livened up the evening with his signature jazz stylings.Chefs Scott McCurdy and Eddie O’Brien volunteered more than 12 hours each, with Ron Zandstra’s assistance, to create authentic Cajun cuisine that prompted a standing ovation from diners.Support from co-sponsor Randy Tuggle, of Roaring Fork Land-Rover & Roaring Fork Volvo, along with Donny Andre of Fin’s Grille, provided the fresh ingredients for the buffet. Joel Karr, of Sacred Grounds, donated brownies. Silent auction items generated the majority of the evening’s donations.”The generosity of Roaring Fork Valley businesses was outstanding,” Andre said. “The feeling of community is tangible in our valley.”
