Fire united Glenwood

Dear Editor,

This has been a devastating trial for us all. Homes were lost and our beautiful scenery has been partially diminished. This catastrophe has burned us all, whether directly or indirectly. Many have suffered financially as well as emotionally, not to mention the sorrow we feel seeing others in pain. Thankfully though, no one was injured and no lives were lost.

What good can we see for ourselves in the midst of destruction? A most beautiful thing has arisen out of the rubble. Just like 9-11, nothing creates unity like a tribulation which affects so many. Everyone has reacted differently, but a peace came out of the fire. Walking through the streets on Saturday and Sunday, I noticed that behind the fear and some panic there was an energy which is all too scarcely revealed.

Our town came together this past week. There was a communal concern for others. This unity is what helped us through this trial. We have come out of this stronger and with a greater sense of what’s actually important.

I felt this aspect of the fire had to be noted. There seems to be an even greater appreciation for what we have and how much it matters to stay united as the beautiful community we are. Glenwood’s 9-11, overcoming the tragedy.
