Firefighters douse second-floor blaze
RIFLE, Colorado – Rifle Fire Protection District firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire at 202 E. Second St. on Tuesday evening, according to fire district spokeswoman Maria Pina.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 8:32 p.m. and arrived within six minutes, where they found smoke and flames coming from a second story window in the multi-family structure.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to the first floor apartments and adjacent homes.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, Pina said. It does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
There were no working smoke detectors or residential fire sprinklers in the home.
