Five Minutes With …

At the age of 2, Louise Mooney traveled to Colorado in a covered wagon with her family. She has lived in the Centennial State nearly her entire life, and in the Roaring Fork Valley for 57 years. Mooney, of Glenwood Springs, recently was spotted at one of Colorado Mountain College’s Senior Nutrition Program lunches.

When and where were you born? Jan. 30, 1920, Sullivan, Mo.

How long have you been living in the valley? Since 1948

Family Information: Six children, 20 grandchildren

What did you do for a living before retiring? I worked with handicapped children at Mountain Valley Developmental Services and held the same job in Oregon.

What do you enjoy doing now that you are retired? Reading, traveling and being with my kids.

What’s your favorite memory over the years? Traveling in Asia

What are you most proud of? I joined the Peace Corps when I was 63 ” I served two years in the Philippines.

What is something you would like to do that you’ve never done? Travel some more.

If you could visit anywhere in the world where would it be? New Zealand.
