Florence E. Munnik
Florence E. Munnik, 94, passed away April 12, 2009, at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale.
She was born Oct. 23, 1914, in Vesper, Wis., to Henry and Dinah (Veldboom) Ter Maat.
She married Abe Munnik June 2, 1936, in Vesper.
Florence worked as a housekeeper at Mengals Cranberry Marsh, Sampson Canning Co. and was assistant manager at Ben Franklin in Wisconsin Rapids. After retirement, she attended Mid State College and became a peer grief counselor with the Wisconsin Division on Aging. She was a member of the Faith Reformed Church of Wisconsin Rapids, where she played the organ for a number of years. Florence enjoyed camping, fishing with Abe, crocheting and her flowers.
She is survived by daughter Judy (Bill) Slattery of Glenwood Springs; grandchildren Robin (Chris) McComas and Cindy (Jack) Warkentin of Glenwood Springs, Susan (Grady) Artaz of Tucson, Ariz., Vicki (Colin) Dana Adney of Phoenix, Jeff (Rose) Dana of Sedona, Ariz.; great-grandchildren Kevin Warkentin of the U.S Navy, Kelsey and Lexie Warkentin of Glenwood Springs, Dusty and Garrett Artaz of Tucson, Zachary and Dezra Dana of Sedona.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brother Wilmer Ter Maat; sister Ethel Van Stedeum; and daughter Beverly (George) Dana.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood Springs. Interment will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Park in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.

The family of Rosie Ferrin has worked to clean up and make safe again the old schoolhouse in downtown New Castle. Ferrin died this summer and had owned the building that included classrooms turned into apartments for years.
