Floy Janice Binns

Floy Janice Binns, 83, died Aug. 28, 2007, in Rifle.She was born July 4, 1924, in Fairbury, Neb., the oldest of four children born to Floyd (Red) and Jessie (Palmer) Harlan. She received her formal education through the Fairbury Public School System, graduating from high school with the class of 1942. She resided and worked in Fairbury until her marriage to Ted Binns of Bishop, Calif., in 1950. Following their marriage, they made their home in Bishop for 28 years where their two children were born. They had two businesses in Bishop, and she helped keep the books. The family moved to Glenwood Springs in June of 1978. They owned Top Drawer Office Supplies from 1978 until their son purchased the business from them, and Ted and Floy retired. Floy was an avid reader and loved to watch football and other sports. She is survived by her husband; daughter Stacey Cruz of Rifle; son Kevin (Kerri) Binns of Rifle; granddaughter Jessie Rae Cruz; brother Jerry (Elaine) Harlan of Columbia, Mo.; and sister Jean Boyd of Fairbury.She was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Harlan, and brother-in-law, Red Boyd.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at the Farnum Holt Chapel in Glenwood Springs.
