Floyd H. Sykes

Floyd H. Sykes, 82, passed away Dec. 30, 2007, at his home in Rifle. Floyd was born Aug. 13, 1925, in Lincoln County, Colorado, to William and Flora (Butter) Sykes. He married Nettie Cummings in Syracuse, Kan., on Nov. 29, 1946. Forty-seven years ago, they moved to the valley, where Floyd worked for C-DOT until his retirement. Family was very important to Floyd. He will be dearly missed.Floyd is survived by his wife; son Mel (Sandy) Rose of Salida; daughter Verna (Ed) Chamberlain of Rifle; brother Earl Sykes of Texas; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous friends.Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Kenny Rose.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the Rifle Funeral Home, 1400 Access Road. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery will follow. The family suggests memorials to Alpine Home Health and Hospice, 945-2838.Rifle Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
