Flurry of accidents forces I-70 closure amid brief, heavy snow

Authorities have reopened westbound I-70 near the Eisenhower Tunnel after a series of accidents forced a brief closure during wintry weather.

A brief but heavy snowfall also prompted authorities to put the chain law in effect for commercial vehicles, but that also has been lifted.

Westbound lanes of the interstate did not close down.

The Eisenhower Tunnel is about 60 miles west of Denver at more than 11,000 feet elevation.
