Former Glenwood Springs anesthesiologist case continues as plea deal deadline approaches

A former Glenwood Springs doctor accused of multiple felony counts of unlawful sexual contact appeared in court Thursday as attorneys discussed a possible plea agreement and trial timeline.

Mark Young, a former anesthesiologist who operated APEX Ketamine Therapy in Glenwood Springs, was arrested in April 2024 following allegations from multiple women. The charges against Young stem from accusations of sexually inappropriate comments and contact against female patients of his.

Prosecutors charged him with one count of felony sexual contact with an at-risk person and four felony counts of sexual contact under the pretense of a medical exam, according to court records.

Young provided ketamine-infused treatments for mental health conditions at his clinic before it ceased operations. His arrest followed an investigation by Glenwood Springs police, who have encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward.

During Thursday’s hearing, prosecutors confirmed that a plea deal had been offered, with a deadline of Feb. 28. The details of the agreement remain confidential unless Young accepts it.

The prosecution also noted that if the case proceeds to trial, they anticipate requesting “an extended panel, as well as a several-week setting.” They acknowledged that previous arraignments had been delayed but argued that “given the complexity of the case, I’m asking for a final arraignment. I would ask for 30 days.”

Young remains out of custody while the case is ongoing. His next court appearance is scheduled at 8:15 a.m., March 6.
