Former resident expresses sympathy

Dear Editor,

I’m writing this while out-of-state on a business trip, but just wanted folks in Glenwood Springs to know my thoughts are with you as you face yet another devastating fire. It seems like it was just yesterday when the Storm King Fire took the lives of 14 firefighters and scarred the scenic beauty of the mountains west of town. Now looking at photographs on the Internet and national television reports, it seems surreal seeing it happen all over again. It makes us realize once again that our material possessions are fragile and can disappear in a flash. We all hope this fire is controlled quickly without any further loss of property. My thoughts are with my former home town and the firefighters and other emergency workers trying to deal with this again.
