Four children injured in rollover north of New Castle

Four children were injured in a rollover accident on County Road 245 on Sunday.

Jon Pittenger, 50, of Glenwood Springs, was traveling south about 13 miles north of New Castle with four child passengers. His 2005 Ford F-350 went off the right side of the road and rolled once down a step embankment.

One child received a broken jaw in the accident, while the other three sustained moderate injuries ranging from lacerations to bruises.

Alcohol and speed are being investigated by Colorado State Patrol as contributing factors in the crash.

The Colorado State Patrol, West Care EMS, Burning Mountains Fire Protection District and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
