Four dead in home near Aspen

ASPEN, Colorado ” Four people have died in a home east of Aspen Friday evening. At approximately 5 p.m., Aspen-Pitkin County Combined Communications received a report of four deceased people and deputies from the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office responded and found a man, woman and two children in the home.

According to a press release, officials from the Aspen Volunteer Fire Department found extremely high and unsafe levels of carbon monoxide in the house. Officials waited 20 minutes for the home to be deemed safe to enter before letting investigators in.

The official cause of death is currently under investigation by the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Coroner.

Further information will be released after an investigation and the notification of next of kin.
