Fracking primer on the agenda for EAB meeting Thursday

RIFLE, Colorado – The public is invited to attend the Garfield County Energy Advisory Board meeting, 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Rifle Branch Library, 207 East Ave., Rifle.

The EAB meets monthly to provide a forum for the public, the oil and gas industry, landowners and local government to address issues related to the industry’s activities in Garfield County.

Each month there is an educational presentation dealing with the industry. This month’s talk is “Fact versus Fiction of Technical Aspects of Hydraulic Fracturing,” by Jennifer Miskimins, associate professor and director of the Fracturing, Acidizing, Stimulation Technology Consortium at the Colorado School of Mines.

A light meal and social time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and the meeting itself begins at 6 p.m.

For meal-planning purposes, RSVPs to Denice Brown, Garfield County Oil and Gas assistant at 625-5915 are encouraged.
