Frances Fletcher Hoffman, 47, died of brain cancer May 9, 2005, in Melbourne, Australia. She was born on May 26, 1957, to Drummond and Francis Hoffman on May 26, 1957, in Pueblo. Her family moved to Carmel, Calif., when she was 5 weeks old. Frances attended Carmel schools and graduated from Carmel High School in 1974. She then attended Moreton Hall in England and received her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She later received her master’s in Library Science from Rutgers, and a teaching credential from Colorado State University. After teaching in Glenwood Springs for five years, she became head librarian at the International School of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Frances loved to travel, and traveled throughout the world. She is survived by her daughter, Allison Ziegler; mother, Frances Hoffman; sisters Florence Buchenroth (Rory), and Leslie Ruhl (Christian); nieces and nephews; and husband, Cameron Merritt. She was preceded in death by her father, Drummond Hoffman. Services were held in Australia on May 19, 2005.Memorials may be made to Harrison Memorial Library.
