Fricke out of 3rd District race

Post Independent Writer

Staff Report

On Wednesday, Randy Fricke announced he will drop out of the Third Congressional District race and throw his support to John Salazar.

Fricke made the announcement less than a week after John Salazar won the party nomination at Colorado’s State Democratic convention.

Fricke said State Representative John Salazar of Alamosa has an excellent record of service in the Colorado legislature. Salazar relates well to the grass roots population of Colorado, said Fricke.

Jim Spehar of Grand Junction and Anthony Martinez of Pueblo also were running against Salazar. Spehar is no longer running, but Martinez may try a petition to continue the race.

“Jim Salazar and I worked very closely together for six months,” Fricke said. “I like his ideas and we see eye-to-eye on pretty much everything.””Jim Salazar and I worked very closely together for six months,” Fricke said. “I like his ideas and we see eye-to-eye on pretty much everything.”
