Photo courtesy U.S. Forest ServiceThe 73-foot-tall 2012 Capitol Christmas Tree, an Engelmann spruce, is loaded onto a flatbed trailer after being cut on Friday morning from the grounds at Ripple Creek Lodge on the White River National Forest, 39 miles east of Meeker. The tree was taken to Meeker for a community celebration and to be wrapped for travel. It will be in Glenwood Springs for a public event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Glenwood Springs Mall.
