Clean up Rifle Mt. Park
Clean-up Day at Rifle Mountain Park is an annual event organized by climbers to clean up the park. This year, it’s from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 23. Trash bags are provided. Bergsma at Through the Looking Glass
Nationally known artist and author Judy Bergsma will be on hand at Through the Looking Glass bookstore from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. Bergsma has illustrated books and completed commissioned works for Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Franklin Mint and Leanin’ Tree greeting cards.
Pancake breakfast
The Marble Historical Society’s annual Colonel Meek Labor Day pancake breakfast is from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Marble Fire Station. $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 12. T-shirts, hats, collectibles for sale. Take the mill site walking tour. Information: Dana Darien, 963-7088.
Defiance auditions
Defiance Community Players will hold auditions for its fall show, “Once Upon a Mattress” from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 and call-backs from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7. MoonRide for LIFTUP
The MoonRide, an annual benefit for LIFT-UP, is set for Saturday, Sept. 6, the night of the full moon. A casual ride starting at the west end of Glenwood Canyon by the Vapor Caves and going 10 miles on the bike path to the Hanging Lake trailhead. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m., riders depart at 7. Food, fun, live music, door prizes and camaraderie. Information: 945-2005.
