Fund-raiser spells success for GSES

Pam Coller

Dear Editor,

Glenwood Springs Elementary School just finished their tenth annual Spelling Bee fund-raiser. This has always been a very successful fund-raiser for us in the past, but this year was a phenomenal year for us. Thanks to the kindness of friends, family and neighbors of our student body, we were able to raise $16,567. This was our most successful year ever.

THis is a PIE fund-raiser, and all of the funds go back to benefit each and every student. As in the past, these funds support our Accelerated Reading and Math programs. This year we will be begin implementing the Accelerated Writing program. Some of these funds will buy books for our Kindergarten and first-grade reading programs, help to fund the Early Success Program for K-1 ESL program, and help each classroom teacher with their classroom activity funds.

Without such strong community support for our schools these projects would not be possible. Our children are truly blessed to live in a community that shows that kind support.

From all of us to you, we thank you for your continued generous support of the Spelling Bee fund-raiser.
