Garfield County Air Fair Schedule

The Garfield County Regional Airport is hosting the free Garfield County Air Fair today and Saturday in Rifle.The two-day event begins with a barbecue from 3-6 p.m. today with kids’ games, including an inflatable bounce aircraft. The main attraction features a flour bombing contest. Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, the airport has rides of every kind imaginable, from hot-air balloons to helicopters to a red baron that will take up two people at a time. All shows are free – rides have their price.

4-7 p.m., Flour bombing – local pilots fly aircraft 200 feet overhead and drop a five-pound flour bag on a target, P-51 Mustang fly-bys, airplane rides – T-6 “Spanish Lady” and Waco 100 Red Baron (cost: $200 per 20-minute ride for one person in T-6, and $200 per 20-minute ride for two people in the Waco 100) Drawings each hour – free kids’ rides in Cessna 210 4-11 p.m., Cash bar – beer garden hosted by Elks Lodge #2195 6 p.m., Green Beret parachute jumpers with Honor Guard 7-11 p.m., Hangar dance with live music by Ed Wilson and his band, 42, and a dance exhibition

9 a.m.-6 p.m., car show 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Air Force flight simulator F-16 static display on truck, P-51 Mustang fly-bys, remote-control aircraft demo 10 a.m. to noon, flour bombing 12:30 p.m., Green Beret parachute jumpers present American flag 1-3 p.m., Flour bombing
