Garfield County Crime Stoppers seeking information in rural burglaries

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – The Garfield County Crime Stoppers is requesting any information regarding a series of burglaries in rural areas of the county.

According to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and detectives have responded to several reports of burglaries in rural regions around Rifle and Silt over the past few days.

Specifically in the Divide Creek area, south of Silt, property owners reported thefts of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), guns and other items of value from their residences. Other incidents were reported northeast of Silt, along County Road 245, and a similar burglary occurred in which several guns were removed.

Similar incidents have occurred near Rifle where burglars targeted commercial construction sites in the vicinity of the Garfield County Regional Airport. At one site in particular, a tool trailer was broken into using bolt cutters on padlocks. Two high-pressure, gas-powered water pumps were taken.
