Garfield County hires new position in finance department

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” The Garfield County commissioners on Monday approved hiring a new position for the finance department. The new position is expected to cost the county about $21,447 for the rest of this year. Commissioners will have to approve funding for the position at a later meeting.

That new employee will work closely with the county human resources department to make sure employee information is entered into the county’s payroll system correctly, and allow the human resources department to concentrate on other tasks, like recruitment.

The new position was sought after auditors earlier this year found “several instances of incorrect paychecks or last minute payroll changes,” according to a memo to county commissioners.

Commissioners also approved a $45,000 contract for exterior painting of the Garfield County Sheriff’s building. The contract went to Groth Construction.
