Garfield County Libraries schedule for Feb. 3 – 9

The Garfield County Libraries are hosting a variety of events this week, offering something for everyone across multiple branches.
On Tuesday afternoon, a Calligraphy Class is being offered at the Carbondale Branch to learn how to write elegantly. Spots are limited so register as soon as possible. The Carbondale Branch is also hosting a Read the Rainbow event for teens on Thursday evening, where either the characters in the book or the author are LGBTQ+. The book featured this week is “Being Ace” by Madeline Dyer. Everyone age 14-18 is welcome to join.
On Thursday evening, the Silt Branch Library is hosting a Hygge Storytime (pronounced: hoo-guh) which is a special storytime meant to evoke comfort, thoughtfulness and togetherness. From the Old Norse “to think” and “hug,” this event invites anyone attending to bring a pillow and your favorite stuffed animal, wear pajamas and sit by the fireplace while listening to cozy stories. This event is free for all.
Also on Thursday evening is the Books in Bars event, where librarians have asked readers to join them at El Dorado in Carbondale, an opportunity to have a drink and some food with a great book. This event is not at the Carbondale Branch Library, it’s off-site at El Dorado at 358 Main St. in Carbondale.
Be sure to visit the libraries’ events pages because some events may require pre-registration or include details not listed here. The webpage can be found here: https://www.gcpld.org/news-and-events.
