Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Violation of restraining order: Russell J. Lashus, 42, of Parachute was arrested on suspicion of violating a restraining order after deputies were called to a disturbance at 3:40 a.m. on April 24 in the 200 block of Morning Star Drive in Battlement Mesa.

Trespass: Deputies are investigating a trespass incident that occurred at 4 a.m. on April 24 in the 200 block of Morning Star Drive in Battlement Mesa.



Underage drinking and driving under the influence: Jorge Abraham Martinez Regalado, 20, of Carbondale was stopped by a deputy at 4:30 a.m. on April 24 near the Highway 82 and Highway 133 intersection near Carbondale. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, underage drinking and failure to drive in a single lane.

Warrant arrest: Misael Farias, 18, of Glenwood Springs was contacted by a sheriff’s deputy at 6:30 a.m. on April 24 in the 500 block of Cowen Drive in Carbondale, and found to be wanted on a warrant for failure to appear. He was lodged in the county jail.



Underage drinking: Deputies were called to a teen drinking party at a residence in the 500 block of Cowen Drive in Carbondale at 6:40 a.m. on April 24. They issued “multiple” citations for underage drinking.

Driving under the influence: Deputies were called to an ATV accident on County Road 317 south of Rifle at 7:40 p.m. on April 24. They summoned the driver, Richard Anthony Sheets, 48, of Rifle, on suspicion of driving under the influence and careless driving.

Runaway: Deputies were called to a trespass report on Bluebell Lane in Silt at 11 p.m. on April 25, but found that the person was a runaway and returned him to his parents.

Driving without a valid license: Francisco Ruiz-Carbajal, 25, of Rifle was stopped for a traffic violation at midnight on April 25 on Stone Quarry Road in Battlement Mesa. He was found to be driving while his license was revoked for a previous alcohol offense, and was lodged in the county jail.

Driving without a valid license: Ismael Garcia Jimenez, 27, of Mesa was stopped by a deputy at 12:30 p.m. April 26 while driving on I-70 near Parachute for failing to use a turn signal. He was cited for that traffic violation and for driving with his vision obstructed and failing to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within 30 days after moving to the state.

Burglary: Deputies are investigating a burglary that occurred in the 3000 mile of County Road 233. The incident was reported at 2 p.m. on April 26. Deputies report having one known suspect in the case.

Theft: Deputies are investigating a theft reported at 3:20 p.m. on April 26 from a residence on County Road 129 in No Name.

Violation of restraining order: County jail inmate Alfred E. Moreno, 30, of Rifle, was charged with violation of a restraining order after he allegedly placed two telephone calls from the jail to a person who had a restraining order against him. The calls were made on the evening of April 25 and the morning of April 26.

Assault and harassment: Matthew John Dixon, 29, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of assault and harassment after deputies were called at 10:45 p.m. April 26 to a domestic disturbance on Michels Circle in No Name. While handling the case, deputies also found that another person at the scene was wanted on a Garfield County warrant for failure to pay fines. They arrested Daniel Jason Flores, 26, of Glenwood Springs on the warrant.

Driving under the influence: Nettie Mae Fry, 25, was stopped while driving in the 200 block of Ponderosa Circle in Parachute at 1:45 a.m. on April 27. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, harassment and tampering.

Huffing: A Parachute area juvenile was ticketed by deputies after he was found to be inhaling gasoline vapors at 6 a.m. on April 27. He was checked at a medical clinic and then released to his parents.

Dog at large: Jazmine Vogel, 19, of New Castle was cited for a loose and unlicensed dog at 12:30 p.m. on April 27 after deputies were called to Apple Tree Park on a call of a dog jumping on children.

Trespass: Deputies cited two Glenwood Springs men for trespassing at the Wal Mart store property at 2:46 p.m. on April 27. Ticketed were Thomas Michael Huben Kippley, 40, and Bruce Wayne Alexander, 57.

Assault: Deputies called to a domestic disturbance at 9:15 p.m. April 27 at a residence in the 1000 mile of County Road 103 near Carbondale, the Crystal Springs road, arrested Sarah Mynatt McKenzie, 40, of Glenwood Springs on multiple counts. McKenzie reportedly went to the home, where the dispute occurred, and allegedly threw something at the house. When she tried to drive away, the vehicle spun out and hit a rock wall. When deputies arrived and attempted to place her under arrest, she reportedly resisted, kicking the officers. Upon arrival at the jail, she kicked the patrol car, causing about $1,000 in damages, and kicked other deputies on the jail staff. She was lodged in jail on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, child abuse, criminal mischief, reckless driving, assault, harassment, resisting arrest and criminal tampering. One deputy was treated and release for minor injuries following the scuffle.
