Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Warrant arrest: Scott Rocha, 20, of Parachute was arrested at 1:30 p.m. April 30 on a warrant for failure to appear in Parachute Municipal Court after he was stopped by deputies on Silver Plume Drive.
Lost dogs: Deputies picked up a lost dog at 8 p.m. on April 30 in the 3000 block of County Road 214 and took it to the Divide Creek Animal Hospital. Deputies picked up a stray dog at 5:30 a.m. on May 1 in the 200 block of County Road 109 near Glenwood Springs and delivered it to the CARE shelter.
Warrant arrest: Deputies stopped a vehicle at 2 a.m. on May 1 for a traffic violation on Highway 13 north of Rifle. During the stop, deputies discovered that a passenger, Matthew David Breedlove, 28, of Steamboat Springs was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear, and was placed under arrest.
Driving under the influence: Ramon Portillo Marquez, 28, of Rifle was stopped at 4 a.m. on May 1 while driving on the River Frontage Road south of Silt. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without insurance, speeding, weaving and failing to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within 30 days after moving to the state.
Trespass: Wesley Paul Bright, 39, a transient, was arrested at noon on May 1 at the intersection of Highway 82 and Highway 133 near Carbondale on suspicion of trespass and littering.
Sex assault: Deputies are investigating a sex assault in the Apple Tree Park area near New Castle. The incident was reported at 4:45 p.m. on May 1, but happened some time earlier.
Harassment: Steven Pressler, 20, of Rifle was arrested on suspicion of harassment and obstructing a roadway after deputies were called to an incident on Taughenbaugh Boulevard near Rifle at 2 a.m. on May 2.
Violation of restraining order: County jail inmate Alfred E. Moreno, 30, of Rifle, was charged a second time with violation of a restraining order after he allegedly placed telephone calls from the jail to a person who had a restraining order against him on May 2. He was charged with the same offense on April 26.
Trespass: Beth Elaine Brock, 54, of Rifle was cited for trespass after deputies were called to investigate at a residence in the 800 block of County Road 321 near Rifle at 1:30 a.m. on May 3.
Explosives: A citizen turned over some explosives to deputies at 12:15 p.m. on May 3 at Rocky Mountain Redi-Mix near Carbondale. The explosives were then handed over to the Grand Junction Police Department.
Harassment: Dennis Dene Sykes, 55, address unknown, was cited for harassment after deputies were called to an incident in Battlement Mesa at 4:40 p.m. on May 3.
