Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Driving under the influence: Ryan Joseph Wheeler, 29, of Pinedale, Wyo., was stopped on Battlement Parkway at 2 am. on March 31 for speeding. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, speeding and failing to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within 30 days after moving to the state.

Dangerous dog: Judith K. Mattis, 65, of Rifle was ticketed at 3 p.m. April 1 for owning a dangerous dog after deputies responded to Grass Mesa on a report of a dog bite.



Parole violation: Dustin Mow, 28, of Eckert, was taken into custody at 5 p.m. on April 1 on suspicion of a parole violation and lodged at the Garfield County Jail.

Warrant arrest: Brian Keith Lamp, 50, of New Castle was arrested at 3 a.m. on April 2 while walking in New Castle. He was wanted on two failure to appear warrants.



Driving under the influence: Leonel Quintero, 22, of Silt was stopped for a tail light violation in the Rifle area and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving while his license was under restraint for a previous alcohol offense, and failing to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within 30 days after moving to the state.

Driving under the influence: Jamie Mendoza-Briones, 25, of Gypsum was arrested at 3:15 a.m. April 2 at the No Name Rest Area after deputies were called to a disturbance. He was booked into the Garfield County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, disorderly conduct and failing to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within 30 days after moving to the state.

Driving under revocation: Peter Aquians Strickland, 36, of Rifle was stopped by deputies at 12:30 p.m. April 2 in the 900 block of Main Street in Silt for failure to use a turn signal. He was ticketed, and his vehicle was impounded, for failure to provide proof of insurance and driving while his license was revoked as a habitual offender.

Warrant arrest: David Moises Martinez, 26, of Silt, was arrested on a warrant for assault during a traffic stop at 4 p.m. on April 2 on County Road 294 north of Rifle.

Warrant arrest: Cesar Gabriel Zepeda-Hurtado, 28, of Rifle, was arrested at 4 a.m. on April 3 at Cottonwood Mobile Home Park near Rifle on a warrant for first degree assault.

Driving under revocation: Manuel Landa-Mendoza, 23, of Carbondale was stopped on three traffic violations at 5 p.m. on April 4 while driving on County Road 352 near Rifle. The deputy found him to be driving while his license was revoked and arrested him.
