Garfield County real estate down slightly from 2009
Starting off the year, January didn’t demonstrate anything out of the ordinary. Of course, that wasn’t the expectation, either. The first month of 2010 came in with $11.5 million in total dollar volume for the county. This represents a decrease of 31 percent from January 2009. Transaction volume was very similar to January 2009 with 34 reported, down 10.5 percent from last year.
With only one month of data to report thus far in the year, it’s difficult to focus in on any trends per se. However, for the month of January, Carbondale again led the county in transaction volume with 10, while Glenwood, New Castle, Battlement, and Rifle each reported five. Silt and Parachute each reported two. The only area of the county that reported an increase in both dollar volume and transactions was Battlement Mesa.
