Garfield County Sheriff’s Report
Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Harassment, assault: At 3:06 a.m. on Aug. 1, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of East Carson Circle in Battlement Mesa. Jamie Lynn Rials, 27, of Parachute, was subsequently arrested on charges of harassment and assault and lodged at the Garfield County Jail. Rials was released on bond.
Vehicle break-ins: At 1:46 p.m. on Aug. 1, deputies responded to several motor vehicle trespasses in the 200 block of Mountain Shadows Drive in Glenwood Springs. The case is closed pending further leads.
Sexual assault: At 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 1, deputies responded to a report of sexual assault outside of Parachute. The case is under investigation.
Sexual assault: At 3:18 p.m. on Aug. 3, deputies received a report of a sexual assault on a child in the Parachute area.
Theft: At 12:22 a.m. on Aug. 3, deputies were dispatched to a theft call. Cash was taken from a vehicle at County Roads 109 and 154 in Glenwood Springs. There are no known suspects.
Theft: At 8:36 a.m. on Aug. 3, deputies were dispatched to a theft call at a residence in the 50400 block of Highway 6 near Glenwood Springs. The case is under investigation.
Submerged vehicle: At 5:08 p.m. on Aug. 4, Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, Burning Mountains Fire District were advised of a possible vehicle in the water at Harvey Gap Reservoir. Deputies and firefighters responded but could not locate the vehicle at first. Later in the day the vehicle was located.The case is under investigation.
Theft: At 2:09 a.m. on Aug. 5, deputies were dispatched to a theft call at County Roads 109 and 154 in Glenwood Springs. At this time there are no known suspects.
Theft: At 10:38 a.m. on Aug. 5, deputies took a report of a stolen license plate in the 5000 mile of County Road 335 in New Castle.
Vandalism, theft: At 11:33 a.m. on Aug. 6, deputies responded to a report of vandalism and theft of motor vehicle parts at County Road 319 and Grass Mesa Road outside of Rifle.
Vandalism: At 12:25 p.m. on Aug. 6, deputies responded to a report of vandalism in the 100 block of Riverboat Drive outside of New Castle.
