Garfield County Sheriff’s Report

Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Driving under the influence: At 2:45 a.m. on Aug. 12, a deputy contacted vehicle in the 51300 block of Highway 6 outside of Glenwood Springs for driving without headlights. Jesus Hernandez Resendiz, 27, of Rifle, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and booked at the county jail. He was released on bond.

Contributing to the delinquency of a minor: At 2:52 a.m. on Aug. 12, deputies were notified of a sex offense near Glenwood Springs. Adan Orlando Serrano-Serrano, 21, of Glenwood Springs, was later arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The sexual assault investigation is ongoing at this time.



Driving under the influence: At 4:09 a.m. on Aug. 12, deputies contacted a vehicle on I-70 outside of Glenwood Springs for a moving violation. Garrett Henry Hatch, 20, of Silt, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana, and underage drinking and booked at the county jail. He was released on bond.

Menacing, burglary: At 9:01 a.m. on Aug. 12, deputies responded to a disturbance in the 27600 block of Highway 6 outside of Rifle. Jose R. Antillon-Chavez, 28, of Paonia, was arrested for criminal impersonation, menacing, second-degree burglary and criminal attempt and lodged at the Garfield County Jail.



Burglary: At 9:43 a.m. on Aug. 13, a deputy responded to a possible burglary in the 100 block of Cedar Court near Parachute. No suspects have been identified or arrested and the case is closed and inactive pending the development of further evidence.

Possession of a controlled substance, driving under restraint: At 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 13, deputies responded to a traffic complaint on westbound I-70 at milemarker 74.5. Michael Alexander Newton, 43, of Silt, was arrested for driving under restraint, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and an outstanding warrant and transported to the Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.

Criminal mischief: At 5:19 p.m. on Aug. 15, a deputy was dispatched to an incident of criminal mischief in the 800 block of West Battlement Parkway near Parachute. The case is closed and inactive pending evidence.

Donkey-at-large: At 6:42 p.m. on Aug. 15, deputies took the report of a donkey that had gotten out and injured a party in the 2300 mile of County Road 226 in Silt.

Stolen trailer: At 12:14 p.m. on Aug. 17, a deputy took a report of a stolen trailer with a mounted power washing unit attached to it near mile marker 11 on County Road 215 in Parachute. This case is inactive pending further leads.

Harassment, criminal mischief: At 7:55 p.m. on Aug. 17, deputies responded to a domestic violence incident occurring in the 100 block of Corral Drive outside of Carbondale. Brook Nicole Harris, 18, of Carbondale, was issued a summons for harassment, domestic violence and criminal mischief.

Driving under restraint: At 12:10 a.m. on Aug. 18, deputies contacted a vehicle on I-70 outside of Parachute for an equipment violation. The driver, Elijah Blu Purcell, 31, of Grand Junction, was arrested for driving with a revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to the Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.

Driving under the influence: After conducting a traffic stop on I-70 in Glenwood Springs at 3:23 a.m. on Aug. 18, deputies arrested Robert Ronald Labbe, 48, of Glenwood Springs, for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Driving under the influence: After conducting a traffic stop on I-70 in Glenwood Springs at 3:24 a.m. on Aug. 19, deputies arrested Alfonso Rodriguez Munoz, 48, of Rifle, for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Trespass: At 3:06 p.m. on Aug. 19, deputies took a report of a trespass on a ranch in the 13200 block of County Road 252 outside of Rifle. The case is closed pending further leads.

Driving without a license: At 3:11 p.m. on Aug. 19, deputies stopped to assist a motorist with a broken down vehicle at Laurel Street and North River Drive. During the assist, it was determined the driver had committed several traffic offenses. Andrade Pedro-Hansey, 35, of Basalt, was arrested for driving without a license and displaying fictitious plates and was transported to the Garfield County Jail.

Theft: At 11:16 a.m. on Aug. 20, deputies responded to a call of a stolen license plate in the 1000 mile of County Road 251 outside of Rifle. At this time the case has been closed pending further leads or suspects.

Theft: At 12:24 p.m. on Aug. 20, deputies received a call in reference to a stolen radio in the 25200 block of Highway 6 outside of Rifle. The case has been closed pending leads or suspects.

Vehicle break-in: At 6:27 p.m. on Aug. 21, deputies were dispatched to an RV park in the 50000 block of Highway 6 outside of Glenwood Springs for a break-in. The case is closed pending further leads.

Trespass: At 8:59 p.m. on Aug. 21, deputies arrested Kevin Warren Gilmore, 18, of Parachute in the 100 block of Angelica Circle in Parachute for first-degree criminal trespass and criminal mischief. Gilmore was lodged at the Garfield County Jail. He was later released on bond.
