Garfield County Sheriff’s Report
Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Driving while ability impaired: At 11:05 p.m. on Oct. 19, deputies were called to a disturbance outside of Parachute. Richard Leroy Richey, 36, of Parachute, was cited for multiple misdemeanor charges, including failure to obey a stop sign; driving while ability impaired by alcohol or drugs; and third degree assault.
Violation of court order: Deputies were looking into an incident in the Silt area at 11:42 p.m. on Oct. 27 when they encountered Matthew Nathan Caton, 39, of Silt. Deputies concluded that he was allegedly in violation of a protection order issued by a judge, and Caton was arrested and booked into the Garfield County Jail.
Criminal mischief: At 11:54 a.m. on Oct. 28, deputies were called to the 800 block of Battlement Parkway for a report of slashed tires on a car. Deputies located Lea Marie Trickel, 23, of Parachute, and cited her for criminal mischief.

Over 75,000 hikers visited Hanging Lake during this year’s peak season. Via signage, the city hopes to point more of those hikers also in the direction of downtown Glenwood Springs.
