Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Fire near Silt: At 1:12 p.m. on Jan. 15, deputies and the Colorado River Fire Rescue agency responded to a residential fire at 2010 County Road 250 (Bendetti Road) near Silt.
Arrested at Community Corrections: At 3:05 p.m. on Jan. 16, deputies contacted a man at the Garfield County Community Corrections facility, 231 CR 333 (Hunter Mesa Road) concerning a warrant for his arrest. Troy Allen Manzanares, 36, of Carbondale, was booked into the Garfield County Jail.
Domestic disturbance: At 11:50 p.m. on Jan. 17, deputies were called to a domestic disturbance outside New Castle, on County Road 335 (Colorado River Road). After investigation, Josue Alberto Vega Herrera, 22, of New Castle, was arrested and booked into the Garfield County Jail on charges of violation of a restraining order and criminal mischief.
Dog impounded: At 11:22 a.m. on Jan. 18, animal control officers impounded a medium-sized, male, black and white dog from the Cottonwood Mobile Home Park near Rifle.

The Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge experienced vandalism in the form of significant water damage after a man removed a pipe valve with a fire extinguisher flooding four hallways. The lodge however remains open and operational.
