Garfield County Sheriff’s Report
Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Drug offenses: Deputies contacted the occupants of a vehicle along Highway 6 east of Rifle at 11 p.m. on May 10, and cited three people. Brian Lynn Lyons, 21, of New Castle and Sydney Rae Wardlaw, 19, of Parachute were cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Amanda Marie Aragon, 19, of Rifle was cited for public use of marijuana.
Warrant arrest: Deputies carried out an arrest warrant at 3 p.m. on May 10 in Parachute. Kimberly Sue Siebe, 39, of Parachute was arrested for failure to appear, and later posted bond.
Violation of restraining order: County jail inmate Alfred E. Moreno, 30, of Rifle, was charged a fourth time with violation of a restraining order after he allegedly placed telephone calls from the jail to a person who had a restraining order against him on May 10. He was charged with the same offense on April 26 and May 2 and 4.
Driving under revocation: Deputies contacted a motorist at 10:50 p.m. on May 10 in the 6000 mile of County Road 215 for an illegible vehicle license plate. Anthony Casey Spears, 27, of Grand Junction was found to driving while his driver’s license was revoked for habitual offender convictions, and for driving without proof of insurance, and was arrested and lodged in the county jail.
Dog chasing livestock: Deputies were called to the 300 block of County Road 332 south of Rifle at 7:30 a.m. May 11 on a complaint of a dog chasing cattle. They later cited Dawn McKinley, 49, of Rifle for allowing her dog to harass livestock.
Marijuana use: Deputies were notified of a young person smoking marijuana at 2 p.m. on May 11 in the New Castle area. They cited a juvenile male for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.
Driving while ability impaired: Deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic complaint at 5 p.m. on May 11 on Battlement Parkway. Devin Anthony Frank, 26, of Golden was cited for a defective turn signal, improperly attached license plates and driving while ability impaired.
Driving under the influence: Deputies stopped a vehicle for defective tail light at 12:10 a.m. on May 11 on South Glen Avenue in Glenwood Springs. Jacob James Godfrey, 20, of Glenwood Springs was cited for a defective turn signal and driving under the influence.
