Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a man at the intersection of county roads 130 and 132 near Glenwood Springs at 3 a.m. on Aug. 1. Richard Tanaka, 23, of Glenwood Springs was found to be wanted on a $1,000 failure to appear warrant for an earlier traffic violation. He was arrested and later freed on bond.

Warrant arrest: Victor Fernando Lopez, 32, of Glenwood Springs turned himself in to the sheriff’s department at 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 1 on a municipal warrant from New Castle for failure to appear in an animal violation case. He was freed on bond.



Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to an animal complaint in the 100 block of East Bonanza Place at 6:20 p.m. on Aug. 1. Sid Jerry Langevin was found to be wanted on a $750 Chaffee County warrant for failure to comply in an earlier case of driving while ability impaired. He was arrested and later freed on bond.

Weapons violation: Deputies were called to a disturbance at Midland Point Road and County Road 109 near Carbondale at 7:18 p.m. on Aug. 1. Jesse James Allen, 19, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a weapon as a previous offender. He was later freed on bond.



Counterfeit license: Deputies stopped a motorist in the 2500 mile of County Road 335 sough of New Castle at 1:40 a.m. on Aug. 2. Juan Munos-Casteneda, 30, of Glenwood Springs was cited for failure to drive in a single lane, failing to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within 30 days after moving to the state, and possession of a counterfeit driver’s license.

Sex assault: Deputies took a report on Aug. 3 of an alleged sexual assault on a child in the Battlement Mesa area.

Harassment: Deputies were called to a domestic disturbance in the 7400 mile of County Road 233 at 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 3. Following an investigation, deputies arrested both parties on suspicion of harassment. Melissa Anne Russell, 29, and Ryan Leroy Bovee, 29, both of Silt, were later freed on bond.

Loose dog: Deputies responded to a complaint of a dog running loose in the 4800 mile of County Road 320 south of Rifle at 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 3. Francis M. Boyle, 71, of Rifle was cited for a dog at large.

Warrant arrests: Deputies stopped a motorist for speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign in the 4000 mile of County Road 233 north of Rifle at 5:46 p.m. on Aug. 4. The driver, Preston Scott Goodnight, 20, of Rifle was wanted on several Garfield County warrants and was arrested and lodged at the county jail. He was also charged with driving with expired license plates, speeding 10 mph over the limit, failure to stop, and driving while his license was revoked. A passenger, Dante Chesnut, 36, of Rifle was also found to be wanted on a warrant and was transported to the Rifle Police Department.
