Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Underage drinking: Deputies responded to a drug violation in the 200 block of Mineral Springs Circle in Battlement Mesa at 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 6. Kendall Lee Witt, 18, of Parachute, was cited for underage drinking.

Illegal drugs: Deputies arrested a man in the New Castle area at 4 p.m. on Sept. 6 for possession of illegal pills and heroin. Kelly Miles Finnessey, 30, of Grand Junction, was lodged at the county jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a man in the 200 block of County Road 333 south of Rifle at 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 6. Gerardo Javier Chavez, 26, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested on a warrant.

Underage drinking: Deputies contacted a suspicious vehicle on Highway 6 near Rifle at 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 6. They cited six people for underage drinking: Nissa Evette Arroyos, 19, address unknown, Mirandia Lynn Ocana, 19, of Rifle, Gilberto Flores Ortega, 19, of Silt, and three teens ages 15, 16 and 17.

Reports: On Sept. 6, deputies took reports of theft of items from the 200 block of Aspen Road near Rifle; lost hand tools in the 5000 block of County Road 154; fraudulent use of a business credit card in West Glenwood; fraudulent wire transfer of money to Hong Kong from the Carbondale area; and a cell phone stolen in the Silt area.
