Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a man in the 100 block of Morningstar Drive in Battlement Mesa at 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 7. Patrick Stephen Payne, 23, of Parachute was arrested on a warrant.

Report: On Sept. 7, deputies took a call about tools stolen in the New Castle area. An arrest warrant was issued for the suspect.

Driving under the influence: Deputies stopped a motorist at the intersection of Highway 82 and County Road 114 at 12:20 a.m. on Sept. 8. Fernando Uriel Tobias-Hernandez, 34, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without proof of insurance or valid license plates, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing a highway. He was lodged at the county jail.

Warrant arrest: A deputy contacted a pedestrian near Apple Tree Park at 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 8. David Viddauri, 22, address unknown, was arrested on a warrant and cited for possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana.

Menacing: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of County Road 121 near Carbondale at 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 8. John Edwin Huffines, 56, address unknown, was arrested on suspicion of harassment and menacing.

Reports: On Sept. 8, deputies took a report of a domestic violence incident on I-70 near New Castle and issued an arrest warrant for the suspect; possible identity theft in El Paso, Texas; and a report of employee embezzlement in the Carbondale area.

Reports: On Sept. 9, deputies took a report of a stolen license plate in the Parachute area and a vehicle break-in in Battlement Mesa.

Warrant arrest: A deputy stopped a motorist at the intersection of county roads 233 and 227 near Rifle at 2:10 a.m. on Sept. 10. Joe Anthony Gonzales, 26, of Silt, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on a warrant.

Warrant arrest: A deputy stopped a motorist at mile marker 76 on I-70 westbound near Parachute at 2:40 p.m. on Sept. 10. Julio Ceasar Betancourt Naya, 30, of Grand Junction was arrested on a warrant.

Warrant arrest: Deputies were called to the 200 block of County Road 167 near Glenwood Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 10. Edwardo Landeros, 19, of Grand Junction was arrested on a warrant.

Warrant arrest: A deputy stopped a motorist at mile marker 83 on I-70 westbound near Parachute at 5 p.m. on Sept. 10. Jesse Edward Smith, 28, of Nucla was arrested on a warrant.

Reports: On Sept. 10, deputies took a report of trespass in the 9000 mile of County Road 320 near Rifle and vandalism to a home on County Road 105 near Carbondale.

Harassment: Deputies responded to a disturbance on Highway 6 near Rifle at midnight on Sept. 12. Daniel Bruce McQueen, 53, was cited for harassment.

Driving under the influence: Deputies stopped a motorist in the 1900 block of Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs at 12:13 a.m. on Sept. 12. Rodolfo Aguilar Jr., 44, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and failure to stop at a light. He was later freed on bond.

Driving under restraint: Deputies stopped a motorist in the 3000 mile of County Road 100 at 11 p.m. on Sept. 12. Hector L. Resendiz-Alcala, 47, of Carbondale was cited for driving without the interlock device and for a defective vehicle light.

Reports: On Sept. 12, deputies took reports of identity theft in the Carbondale area; a theft in the Glenwood Springs area; a case of fraud with a Social Security number in the Glenwood Springs area; and a possible sexual assault near Rifle.

Driving under restraint: Deputies stopped a motorist in the 2200 block of Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs at 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 13. Hernando Estrada Torres, 40, of El Jebel was arrested on suspicion of driving under restraint. He was later freed on bond.

Reports: On Sept. 13, deputies took a report of possible trespass in the Parachute area.
