Garfield County Sheriff’s Report
Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Criminal mischief: Deputies responded to a disturbance in the Parachute area at 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 14. A 16-year-old Parachute youth was cited for criminal mischief for damaging a door.
Search and rescue: Deputies assisted search and rescue on Sept. 14 looking for a missing person in the Meadow Lake area on the Flat Tops. The person was found and taken to Vail Valley Medical Center for care.
Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a woman on Highway 82 at 12:09 a.m. on Sept. 15. Jacqueline Jessica Castrellon, 25, of Gypsum was arrested on a warrant.
Reports: Deputies are investigating a possible assault in the Rifle area reported on Sept. 15.
Vicious dog: Deputies took a report of one dog attacking another dog in the 700 block of River Bend Way near Glenwood Springs at 6:20 a.m. on Sept. 16. Jennifer Cuny, 30, of Glenwood Springs was cited for harboring a vicious animal.
Careless driving: Deputies were called to a disturbance at 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 17 at an address on Highway 6 east of Rifle. After an investigation, Mariana E. Pacheco, 27, of Rifle was cited for careless driving.
Driving without a license: Deputies stopped a motorist at the intersection of Highway 82 and County Road 114 at 5:40 a.m. on Sept. 17. A juvenile driving the car was cited for driving without a valid license and driving with expired license plates. A passenger in the car, Antonio Lazcano, 44, Glenwood Springs, was cited for permitting an unlicensed minor to drive the car. Another juvenile passenger was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Warrant arrest: Deputies arrested Edward William Munson, 36, a homeless person staying in Glenwood Springs, on a warrant for failure to pay court fines at 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 17.
Harassment: Deputies were called to a trespass on Cottonwood Court in Battlement Mesa at 8:15 p.m. on Sept. 17. James Allen Mcguire, 45, of Parachute was arrested on suspicion of harassment and violation of a restraining order.
Assault: An inmate at the Garfield County Jail faces charges of assault and criminal mischief after assaulting a member of the jail staff on Sept. 18. Anthony Lee Acosta, 19, of Glenwood Springs allegedly used a hazardous material to carry out the assault.
Violation of restraining order: Deputies contacted a group of young people at an address on Highway 6 east of Rifle at 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 18. Pablo Castillo Gomez, 21, of Rifle was arrested for violating a court restraining order and violating bail bond conditions. Two juveniles were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released to their parents.
