Garfield County Sheriff’s Report

Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a woman at 4:13 p.m. on Oct. 29 who had an active warrant for arrest out of Pitkin County for failure to appear on an original charge of driving without a driver’s license. Kelli Roshelle Bohl, 33, of New Castle, was taken into custody and booked into the Garfield County Jail on the warrant. She was released on bond.
Warrant arrest, driving under restraint: Deputies stopped a vehicle at 8:57 p.m. on Oct. 29 outside of Glenwood Springs for a traffic violation. Oscar Nevarez-Caballo, 37, of Carbondale, was found to have an active warrant out of Garfield County for the original charge of driving under the influence. Nevarez-Caballo was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant.
Harassment: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 50000 block of Highway 6 near Glenwood Springs at 11:03 p.m. on Oct. 29. Deputies took Joan M. Preisner, 55, of Glenwood Springs into custody. Preisner was transported to the Garfield County Jail, where she was booked into the jail.
Driving under restraint, speeding: Deputies contacted a vehicle at 11:29 p.m. on Oct. 29 on Highway 6 near Glenwood Springs for speeding. Ramiro Alberto Sanchez, 19, of Carbondale, was found to be driving while his license was revoked and was arrested and transported to Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.
Possession: Deputies initiated a traffic stop at 12:15 a.m. on Oct. 30 along Interstate 70 in New Castle. Eduardo Hurtado Garcia, 18, of New Castle, was found to be in possession of narcotics. Garcia was issued a summons for traffic and marijuana related charges, and released from the scene.
Possession: Deputies contacted a vehicle outside of Rifle at 10:49 p.m. on Oct. 30 for a traffic violation. Shayna Ninette Sisson, 19, of Grand Junction, was issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia and a traffic violation. Mackenzie Eric Marker, 19, of Grand Junction, was issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia and less than 2 ounces of marijuana.
Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a man at 4:02 p.m. on Oct. 30 in the 7000 block of Highway 82 near Glenwood Springs whom had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Deputies took Fernando Uriel Tobias-Hernandez, 34, of Glenwood Springs, into custody and transported him to the Garfield County Jail where he was booked.

Messaging from CDOT changes, but Independence Pass is noted as closed on its website but not for mudslides
Independence Pass east of Aspen is listed as closed according to the state’s transportation department, but the road was not shut down Wednesday because of mudslides but rather to lessen traffic.
