Garfield County Sheriff’s Report

Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Vehicle theft: Deputies responded to a motor vehicle theft at 12:44 a.m. on Dec. 6 in the 100 block of Highway 133 near Carbondale. The case is closed pending further leads.

Runaway: Deputies were dispatched at 12:46 a.m. on Dec. 6 to a runaway juvenile near New Castle. The juvenile was located and subsequently transported home.



Theft: Deputies were advised at 6:17 a.m. on Dec. 6 of a cold theft of tools from a truck in the 100 block of Rippy Lane near New Castle. The case is closed pending further information.

Tampering: Deputies took a report at 2:34 p.m. on Dec. 6 of criminal tampering to a vehicle in the 900 block of Cooper Avenue in Glenwood Springs. The case is closed at this time.



Assault: At 12:11 a.m. on Dec. 6, deputies arrested a man for third-degree assault under the domestic violence law in the 100 block of Angelica Circle in Parachute. Preston Scott Groff, 22, was transported to the Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.
